Join us at the Blue Bay Inn

Welcome to the Blue Bay Inn of Atlantic Highlands, NJ.
The Bayshore Trail In Atlanic Highlands Is Now Open!

Hike, Bike, Jog, Fish, Draw or Read....Whatever You want we have at the Blue Bay Inn in Atlantic Highlands.

The Bayshore trail opened in the spring of 2009.  It is 1.8 miles in length (one way), starting a block from the Blue Bay Inn's main entrance.  It is just pass the tennis courts at the foot of 1st Avenue. The scenic trail makes its way from the Atlantic Highlands Harbor, and runs along the waterfront, and ends at Pompamora Park, more commonly known as Murray’s beach, -- The 1.8 mile trail which is open to both foot and bike traffic provides a level passage between Atlantic Highlands and Highlands without subjecting travelers to the daunting obstacles of hills in Atlantic Highlands and Highlands. Moreover, without this path -- which threads through an inaccessible area -- it would be quite difficult to bike from the Henry Hudson Trail to Sandy Hook without going over big hills and through potentially heavy traffic.
The path is quite beautiful, with the waters of the bay immediately on your left as you head east and the wooded steep hillside on your right. There are architecturally interesting homes built in the woods above the trail. It is said that the highest point on the entire eastern seaboard of the United States is above this path on scenic drive (great views of Sandy Hook and Manhattan). There are a variety of birds flitting the woods and working the waters of the bay. With the fresh scent of the bay, you can smell the water as you bike. Bike rentals will be available starting around July 1st at Tom's Atlantic Cyclery. www.atlanticcyclery.com . right here on !st Avenue.

Another great growing tradition is bird watching and outdoor painting. With so much nature you are sure to find one or more rare birds and wildlife species rare to the eye. On Tuesdays the Atlantic Highlands Arts Council hosts an outside painting session from 9am - 12pm. Supplies and more information can be found at Atlantic Artisans 732-291-0100 .  You are invited to relax and enjoy all the Blue Bay Inn and Atlantic Highlands has to offer.

No car? No problem! From NYC, take the Sea Streak Ferry
